What’s something you’ve done that you never thought you could? Today, I’m re-blogging a post from Fox Reviews Rock. It’s a website I discovered when posting news of a radio program at Elwood Writers did for the Cover to Cover program on Vision Australia Radio. I’ve been following the metal/rock site to catch up on my ‘heavy’ music news! Lately they’ve become rather philosophical in their approach to life.
See the post below which poses a great question. Do you have an answer? I guess I never thought I’d start a website, but am glad I have.
Margaret is a Melbourne/Naarm-based writer developing a memoir about the relationship she had with her father, a wounded veteran of the Second World War and prisoner of war in Germany.
Excerpts from her manuscript can be found in American Writers Review, Jewels of San Fedele and Clairitage Press. In 2013 she was awarded a scholarship to the Norman Mailer Writers Colony in Provincetown, where she began her manuscript.
In 2015, she gained an MA in Creative Writing from Wilkes University, PA. She writes non-fiction, personal essay and the occasional short story.

I never thought I’d write a novel. It’s not done yet, it needs a good bit of honing, but it *is* a novel, beginning to end. I also never thought I’d get around to retirement, but here I am just over two months away.
Well, Congratulations Jeff. Those are quite the accomplishments. Enjoy completing the novel. And you might find yourself – happily – busier than ever in retirement.
Jeff – you took the words out of my mouth – yes, writing a novel – & now I’m wondering if I’d have embarked upon it if I’d known how hard it would be lol – great post, Margaret
Thanks da-AL and all the very best to you both. I’m sure you will do extremely well. (As our once Prime Minister down under said – to paraphrase – no one said it was going to be easy.)
Sending this again Margaret as I’m not sure it went through as me the first time I posted it.
I never thought I could write a haiku – and yet that is a form I love now. The brevity of the ancient japanese short form poetry, capturing a moment in time.
Yes, I noticed that change too.
